ADJUSTED COST BASE ESTIMATOR
Calculating your adjusted cost base (ACB) is necessary to determine the true cost of your investments for capital gains and losses. Claymore’s Adjusted Cost Base Estimator calculates the estimated ACB of your investments into a specific Claymore ETFs, including any reinvested distributions, as well as any commissions or fees incurred to purchase that ETF. Calculating your adjusted cost base is not only mandated by the Canadian Revenue Agency, but it’s also useful for tracking your investments. Knowing the adjusted cost base per share makes for more meaningful comparisons to the current prices in the market.
To begin, enter the Claymore ETF ticker symbol, the date purchased, unit cost, and total amount invested. This initial transaction needs to be added before the Estimator can show a result. You can add multiple entries using the “add transaction” button. Once all desired transactions are entered, click on submit and your ACB along with amount of total distributions paid will display.
